Jasmine Mickens is a graduate student at Harvard University, completing her thesis on afro-reparations efforts, using resource mobilization theory and movement analysis to illuminate collective wisdom, tactical challenges, and the politics of Black liberation. She is also a Program Manager for the Global Justice team at the Open Society, Global Programs, focusing on intersectional and reparative justice. Born in Newark, New Jersey, she brings her lived experience to influence the debate around race, gender, and economic justice . She has a track record of promoting systemic change through research and direct advocacy from serving as an ethnographic researcher at the University of Cape Town and Yale University, to formerly serving as a Policy Analyst at Open Society-US. Jasmine is fluent in Spanish, and is learning Portuguese. She is also a proud New Jersey SEEDS Scholar and Rosa Parks award recipient.
